Community Activities – Publications and IRIS Workshop • Statement of Work • Core Activities • Produce IRIS Annual Report, annual brochures (e.g. IRIS-at-a-Glance), and other pan-IRIS documents for the IRIS community. • Conduct community workshops (IRIS Workshop, Seismic Instrumentation Technology Symposium). • Engage in community planning activities that build on the strategic and long-range science plan for seismology and closely related fields. • Coordinate collaborations between IRIS programs and international organizations.

  2. Community Activities Budget Justification, Direct Costs: Year 2 +Qrtr. 1 = 15 Mo. Salaries & Fringe Benefits: $119,204 +$24,550 =$143,754 Extrapolate rates from the past two years, which include an IRIS Workshop and a SITS in alternating years: 15% Public Outreach Manager, 75% Media & Graphics Specialist, 33% Meeting Planner, 8% Web Developer. Supports CA meetings, publications, & database of publication recipients and IRIS meetings participant. Travel: $4,000 +$0 =$4,000 Includes two domestic trips for the Meeting Planner to prepare for and support the SITS, and one trip each for the Public Outreach Manager and the Media and Graphics specialist to IRIS-related meetings. Participant Support: $30,000 +$0 = $30,000 Costs are estimated from the cost of supporting participants at the SITS during 2011. Materials and Supplies: $4,000 +$0 = $4,000 For miscellaneous items that may be required to produce publications or complete SITS preparations. Publications and Printing: $14,500 +$0 = $14,500 For one Annual Report, one IRIS-at-a-Glance, and one SITS program. Other Direct Costs: $6,400 +$300 =$6,700 Includes facility fees and equipment rental for meetings and conferences, as well as monthly costs.
