  2. Question 1: How do we define the personality traits of a hero? Patton, known throughout his life as "Georgie" was born Nov 11, 1885 in San Gabriel, CA, to George Smith Patton Jr, and Ruth Wilson. Both of his parents came from wealthy and influential families, and were well educated. From an early age, Patton was educated by his father, an influential attorney, in classical literature and history, notably the Illiad, Macaulay's Lays of Ancient Rome, and Kipling. He knew most of the Bible by heart before he could read. Though extremely intelligent, George didn't learn to read and write until a late age, he didn't start school until he was 11, and had problems in mathematics and spelling. Patton probably suffered from dyslexia, an ailment that had not been diagnosed by that time. (Stroupe).

  3. Question 2: What drove General George S. Patton Jr. to become a hero? Patton decided during childhood that his goal in life was to become a hero. His ancestors had fought in the Revolutionary War, the Mexican War and the Civil War, and he grew up listening to stories of their brave and successful endeavors. He attended the Virginia Military Institute for one year and went on to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point on June 11, 1909. He was then commis.
