  1. Fyke Net Study April 10 - 15 The nets were set on Thursday April 9 with the help of a young gentlemen, Joe, and myself. They were put in at four locations near the cattails on the lake. On Friday morning they returned and 57 northern, the largest being 35 ½” we captured, sampled, tagged and returned to the lake. There were also a few perch up to 12”, many small bluegills, crappies and a couple of bullheads netted. All fish were returned to the lake. In total they captured and tagged 198 northern which is very important to our study and consideration of options for drawdown as well as setting bag and size limit for our lake. The subsequent days they captured about 50 northerns each day with the percentage of recaptured northerns being greater each day. When their number becomes greater than 50% recapture they conclude the netting as they can make an accurate estimate of the population and size structure. Survey conducted by Bob Olynik, DNR Fisheries Technician. A Good Thing No evidence of VHS disease was seen on any of the fish netted – WOW!!!!
