Bahamas Information • Government Airports: -All airport under this category are owned and operated by the Bahamas Gov’t and all Pilots care welcome • Private Airports: -Airport under this category are independently owned, with most welcoming the visiting pilot. • Airports Of Entry (AOEs) - These airport have Customs and Immigration facilities and are only airports you can use for your first and last stop in a country.

Departing The U.S. • Do I need to depart from a designated port of Entry? -No, a pilot do not need to depart from a designated port. • Do I need to file an International Flight Plan? -Yes, a flight plan is required. • Are firearms allow in The Bahamas? - Firearms should be registered with US Customs prior to departure. • Does my aircraft need large # numbers? -Yes, all aircrafts must have 12” “N” Numbers

Landing Procedures • Controlled Airports: - Nassau and Grand Bahama International are controlled airports, and you are advised to contact approach control or tower approximately 25nm out for landing instructions. • Uncontrolled Airports: - When approaching airports with no control facilities, you are required to announce: Aircraft, Identification, Location and Intentions over Unicom frequency 122.8. Pass over airport at 1,000’ MSL and enter LEFT traffic pattern. All landing and takeoffs at uncontrolled field should be into the wind.

Entering The Bahamas • Your first landing In The Bahamas - It must be at an Airport of Entry • Only pilots on an IFR flight plan will be permitted to land after official sunset • What are the Proof of Citizenship requirements to enter The Bahamas? - One of the following: - Passport - Birth certificate and Picture I.D. • When arriving in The Bahamas at a port of entry, what forms will I be required to submit? - - Three (3) copies of C7A General Declarations form. If flying to other Bahamian ports, the C7A will be used as a cruising permit.

Private Pilot visiting The Bahamas should expect the following: • Is there a landing fee for small single engine planes? - No landing fee for single engine planes on a pleasure trip at any Government owned airport. Landing fee may apply at private airports • What is the Custom & Immigration charges, if we land after five o’clock? - For non-commercial single or twin airplane there is no fee. • Is a cruising permit or transire needed to fly to other Bahamian ports? - Yes, the C7A will act as your cruising permit as a private pilot.

Tie downs are not available at all airports, and tie down fee may apply at private airports • Do pilot and co-pilot pay departure tax? - Yes all person traveling must pay $15 Government Departure Tax • Do I need to file a flight plan to fly into the Bahamas.? • Yes

What a Private Pilot needs to Leave The Bahamas • What forms do you need to present to Bahamas Customs upon departure? - You need to submit a completed C7 General Declarations/Outward Forms, Surrender copies of Immigration cards. • Do I need to file an international Flight Plan to leave The Bahamas? • Yes • Should I call US Customs or put ADCUS on my Flight Plan, when leaving The Bahamas.? • You should call US Customs advising them of your ETA
