Title I Program

1. Title I Program Hart County School District Provides schoolwide Title I learning for all students in grades K-8.

2. Annual Meeting Tasks • INVOLVE PARENTS (planning, review, improvement plan schoolwide program, and policy/procedures revision) • DATA ANALYSIS (gains/progress and/or gaps toward learning goals and academic expectations) • OFFER TRAINING MATERIALS (inform parents of trainings, meetings, and activities to promote ongoing communication between school/home) • INVOLVE (parents and community organizations involved in school and district advisory councils)

3. Annual Meeting cont’d ENSURE… THE SCHOOL PROVIDES high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment. REVIEW OF student’s academic assessment during P/T conferences, phone and written communication, and during progress report and report card issuance. PARENTS AND SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL involved in developing school-home compacts which describes the partnership needed to achieve Kentucky’s standards. PARENTS have a voice in parental involvement budget. DISTRICT makes provisions for opportunities and participation of parents with limited English proficiency, as those situations arise. DISTRICT AND SCHOOLS conduct annual survey.

4. Title I Purpose • …is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and have opportunities to advance with higher learning education. (provides many teachers in our district)

5. Title I School Compacts …each school community has developed a Parent Compact and Policy that outlines student, staff, and parent responsibility …The compact is designed for improved student academic achievement and for developing a partnership to help children achievement.

6. Title I Parent Involvement …Parents are their children’s most important teachers, and the parent/child interaction is fundamental to the total educational effort. …We value both parents’ contributions at school and their participation at home.

7. Title I Parent Involvement …encourage your child to read and help your child with homework that will contribute to your child’s academic growth. …attend “Family Fun Nights” or other family activities provided by your child’s school. …attend Parent/Teacher conferences. …attend volunteer training/volunteer in your child’s school. …keep communication ongoing with your child’s school.

8. Title I Parent Involvement Program …a child’s education is the shared responsibility of the school, the family, and the community. …increased family involvement in school activities provides your child with better grades, test scores, and attendance. …parent involvement will help your child have a more positive attitude towards their peers and school staff. …involving parents in joint development of the Title I program.

10. Parents Right to Know …the qualifications of those who teach your child, if your child has been assigned or taught for 20 days consecutively by a teacher who is not highly qualified. …review student progress information discussed during conferences and other forms of communication. …review the school report cards, to know how your school is performing on tests

11. Involvement Policy • Making representative parents and community members’ full partners in our decision making • Seeking and supporting adult volunteers to work with and inspire our students.

12. Memorial Elementary School Parent Involvement Policy Our Council recognizes our student’s families and local community members as essential partners in helping each student succeed. We commit ourselves to: • Sharing clear information about each student’s progress with the student’s family. • Offering practical suggestions to families on how they can support student learning at home.

13. I. Information on student progress Each grading period, teachers will provide the following. • Reports on students progress • A report on how each student with a disability is progressing • An invitation to meet and discuss student’s progress • A way to communicate with the student’s teacher.

14. II. Home support for student learning Our principal and teachers will: • Assign homework that is compatible with our instruction policy. • Provide information on Content • Send home newsletters • Create and maintain a web page • Support PTSA

15. Family Resource 1. Survey Families at least once a year. 2. Offer a well-publicized set of programs to meet those needs.

16. III. Decision Making We invite concerned adults throughout our community to join in our decision making by: • Signing up to serve on SBDM • Attending Council or committee meetings • Participating in Surveys.

17. IV. Volunteers We invite concerned members to volunteer • Tutoring • Chaperoning field trips • Preparing Materials • Joining PTSA • Serving on the District and School Advisory council.
