  1. In the beginning, ~ there was…

  2. “Hamlet”

  3. You know…that one Mel Gibson movie? Poor Yorick; Yo, ‘Ratio - I, like, Knew him?

  4. Well, it was written by this dude What a piece of work is a man (William Shakespeare)

  5. And the lead role (Hamlet) has also been played by these fellows…

  6. …but all of that got old pretty fast.

  7. And, well, so did ‘Ole Bill

  8. Oh, sure, “Hamlet”continued to audiences for generations, and is still performed regularly throughout the world

  9. In China… Read about it here

  10. In Tunisia… See it here

  11. In Canada… Stratford Shakespeare Festival

  12. And in many other places, in diverse formats…

  13. That’s a whole lot of “Hamlet”

  14. In fact,“Hamlet” is widely believed to be the most-performed play in the English language, and perhaps the most-performed in modern history Even beyond the live stage, there are over 50 films and screen adaptations that bear its name

  15. But come on, Hamlet

  16. That’s, like, soo 17th century! And while we’re on the subject why Perchance (if I can be so bold) must it always be about

  17. …how to put this…

  18. Aw, shucks, I’ll just say it

  19. WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT YOU?! Case in point

  20. I mean, OK, I know you’ve had to deal with some pretty heavy stuff

  21. (Fratricide, patricide, clinical depression, repressed unconscious emotions, unrequited love, existential vexation, loneliness, skepticism, self-doubt, solipsism, Oedipal complexities, misogynistic rage, intellectual preoccupation, vanity, spiritual disquiet, pathological insecurity, borderline schizophrenia and/or multiple-personality disorder, your father’s spooky ghost, charming good looks that only a mother could love, a proclivity for engaging in some serious sophistry, one heck of a beef with the moral character of the human race, a somewhat far flung fascination with the discrepancy between the known and the unknown universe, a heated debate between you, yourself, and ye regarding fate and/vs. free will, a lot of good jokes we’re only just beginning to get, the loss of your bestest homies, and, of course, your own death)

  22. Come on, though

  23. IT’S TIME TO GET OVER ALL THAT STUFF

  24. Lest ye not forget: The rest of us have our own problems

  25. Think of someone other than yourself and ‘poor Yorick’ for a change

  26. I know there aren’t many others in your story

  27. ( )

  28. But surely there’s other tales to tell

  29. Like…

  30. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead (Move over, Shakespeare - it’s Tommy boy’s turn.)
