  1. New Unit Contract: (Copy this on the front page of your Folder) Today we are beginning our last unit on Surface Area, Volume, and Scale Factor. All the work that we do for this unit will go into this Red Folder. You will use knowledge that you have developed all year. The work you do for this unit will determine your End of the Year Grade. There is no “Extra work.” To pass you must complete all the assignments in this unit. Every Friday we will collect your Folders and give you feedback and let you know if you are on track to pass this class. Sign your name at the bottom.

  2. Set up the first Page in your Folder(on notebook paper) Table of Contents Page 1 – Flea Sized Surgeons Skit

  3. Assignment #1: Flea Sized Surgeons Skit Directions: • In your group choose two people to be Rene and AJ. These two people read the skit aloud while everyone else follows along. • While reading, underline anything that is confusing or that you have a question about. • When you are finished, let us know.

What is A.J.’s “big idea” that will fix the health-care problem? Why is this a good idea? 2. Rene said that to scale from inch-size to foot-size means scaling up by 12. Do you think that he is correct? Why or why not? 3. Estimate by how much a doctor would have to be shrunk to become flea-sized. Explain the logic behind your estimate.
