  1. Supplementary Fig. 1. Comparison of atpD (a), recA (b) and glnII (c) gene phylogenies, showing the relationships among the chickpea rhizobia in the present study and recognized species of the genus Mesorhizobium. Trees were constructed by the neighbour-joining method with a Kimura 2-parameter model distance matrix. Bootstrap values (%) were based on 1,000 replications and were shown at each node. Bars, expected number of changes per site.
