  1. THE ACTIVITY BALANCE OF PLATELET COLLECTION BY APHERESIS OVER A PERIOD OF 72 MONTHS (2006-2011)AT SINGLE CENTER IN ALGERIA R.Belhadj; R.Ahmed-nacer; M.Benakli; N.Rahmoune; F.Mehdid; A.Talbi M.Baazizi; D.Ait-Ouali; S.Akhrouf; F.Mehenou; RM.hamladji. 2. INTRODUCTION • The platelet transfusion is a surrogate therapeutic way to offset a deficit induced by disease or cytotoxic therapy. • Platelet transfusion can be a life-saving procedure in preventing or treating serious complications from bleeding and hemorrhage in patients who have disorders manifesting as thrombocytopenia  or platelet dysfunction. • This transfusion is a necessary and constant part of hematologic reanimation. • We present the activity balance of platelet collection in our center.

  3. Material and methods • Period 72 months : (2006-2011): 5548 sampling platelet concentrate units PCU (924 / year). • Origin of donations (PCU): family + + ++                    volunteers

  4. Material and methods • Terms of sampling: • Personal qualified. • Questioning. • Physical examination. • Laboratory study: • complete blood count: rate plat ≥ 150×109/l           Blood group.           Viral serology: VIH, HbS, CVH, Syphilis • (negative) • The platelet concentrate unit performed on a single donor thanks to a automated cell separator model TRIMA.

  5. Material and methods TRIMA Accel : N= 3 Agitator: N=2 • continuous Horizontal agitation. • Conservation 5-7 days. • Temperature 22 0 C • Continuous flow separator. • BV extracorporeal low. • A Better hemodynamic tolerance

  6. Material and methods 1452 1272 1232 673 DISTRIBUTION BY GENDER: male predominance (93,2%) ONLY 379 (6.8%) are female P50 Amiri Nadia TUNISIA:(97,5% donors is the young males)

  7. Material and methods REPARTITION ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF DONATIONS Donations Volunteers: 512 (9.2%)

  8. RESULTS BLOOD DONORS RATES BEFORE AND AFTER APHERESIS

  9. RESULTS VALUES OF PROCEEDINGS GIFT OF PLATELET CONCENTRATE UNITS

  10. RESULTS Cancelled samples N = 76 (1.35%): poor donor tolerance /poor venous access

  11. RESULTS DISTRIBUTION OF USER UNITS

  12. RESULTS COMPARISON RATES OF VOLUNTEERS DONORS IN BLOOD COMPONENT : PCU : our center / Red Blood Unit : Blood Center tranfusion (BTC) Tizi-ouzou (TO) L.Ainas Revue Algérienne d’hématologie N° 5 septembre 2011: prévalence des infections VIH; VHC et Syphilis chez les donneurs de sang au CTS de (2005-2009)

  13. DISTRIBUTION OF PUC / YEAR IN ALGERIA : Multicentricstudy of 1 year (2009) S. Nekkal, M.Belhani . Revue Algérienne d’hématologie N° 5 septembre 2011 : la transfusion de plaquettes en hématologie: le point en 2009 Etude multicentrique

  14. Conclusion • The platelet transfusion is very important in hematologic reanimation. • Despite the large number of donations (PCU) per year; it remains insufficient because of the lack of voluntary donors especially in summer and the month of Ramadan.
