  1. By: Jamie Deville Shanna Olivier Danielle Muir & Casey David Biography of A Sunflower!

  2. Sunflower Info: • The scientific name of the sunflower is Helianthus annus. • The sunflower grows best in full sun and a great amount of water. • A sunflower can germinate in 10 to 20 days. • The seed should be placed 18 to 24 inches from each other. • You should place them a ½ inch from the top of the soil.

  3. Our Info: • We bought the seeds from Bourque’s Supermarket in Port Barre, Louisiana. • They are the Moonshine Branching brand of seeds.

  4. The History of Sunflowers: • Some archaeologists believe that Native Americans may have cultivated sunflowers as early as 3000 B.C.

  5. Our Objectives: • Our group wanted to determine the affect of growing sunflowers using different amounts of water. • So far, our plants are showing various sizes. • We have assumed that the amount of water that you give a plant does affect the growth.

  6. The Method: • We varied the amounts of water given to the plants. • Plant 1: 10 ml of water • Plant 2: 20 ml of water • Plant 3: 30 ml of water • Our sunflowers received the maximum amount of sunlight.

  7. …Continued • We planted 4 seeds. • Our plants have grown as we expected.

  8. Our Researchers: • Jamie Deville: Researched, made observations, constructed, and designed the presentation. • Shanna Olivier: Researched, did artistic work, and made observations. • Casey David: Researched, made observations, and found some photos. • Danielle Muir: Made observations, found info., and designed.
