  4. State Motto and Nickname • Idaho’s motto is Esto Perpetua which means May it Endure Forever. • Idaho’s nickname is the Gem State and the Spud State.

  6. State Landmarks • Assay Office - This assay office symbolizes the importance of mining in the history of Idaho and the American West. Built in 1870-71, it operated by the federal government until 1933. • Bear River Massacre Site- Where California Volunteers wrought Bear River Massacre upon a Shoshoni village in 1863. • Camas Meadows Battle Sites - Sites of the Battle of Camas Creek, which allowed Nez Perce to further elude capture. • Cataldo Mission - This Jesuitmission to the Coeur d'Alenes, dating from the 1850s, is the oldest remaining missionchurch in the Pacific Northwest.

  7. State Landmarks • City of Rocks - Thousands of emigrants on the California Trail made this a popular resting point, and left wagonruts that are still visible today. For these emigrants, the landscape of rock outcrops rising like city buildings, woodlands, and mountains provided a welcome change from the surrounding sagebrushplains. • Lolo Trail - Difficult trail followed by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805 and returning in 1806. • You can swimming, fishing, boating, camping, horseback riding, hunt, golf and do mountain bike climbing.

  8. State Landmarks • Also you can ski and ride a snowmobile up in the snowy mountains. They also put on a play telling about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. In the play they show you how to Agaidika Shoshone dancing. In the rivers you can canoe and take different river trips with a tour guide. You also have amusement parks and different events. While your hear you’ll always be outside for a wonderful adventure.

  10. Governor • Butch Otter is the 32nd and current governor of Idaho since January 2007. He runs for the Republican Party. Otter previously represented the state’s First Congressional District. He is the longest serving Lieutenant Governor of Idaho. He also is the first Idahoan since statehood to win elections as both a United States Representative and as governor. He is married to Lori Easley and is divorced to Gay Simplot. He was born on May 3, 1942 which means he is 68 years old.

  11. The Capital • Boise is the capital of Idaho. One of its main attractions there is its zoo. Zoo Boise, go there today.

  12. Major Industries • Agriculture( potatoes, wheat, sugar beets, barley, lumber and mining).
