The Crustacean Society web site: http://www.vims.edu/tcs Meetings The Society meets twice annually, at The Summer Crustacean Meeting and during the winter with the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB). Summer Meetings are occasionally held concurrently with other carcinological meetings (e.g., The International Crustacean Congress and the European Crustacean Conference). Please check the TCS website for upcoming meetings. The Crustacean Society was founded in December, 1979, by scientists who recognized the need for an international organization and journal to enhance the study of all aspects of crustacean biology and to promote the exchange of information and ideas among persons interested in carcinology. The society encourages and rewards outstanding contributions to the field in three areas: Best Paper (published in the Journal of Crustacean Biology), Best Student Presentation (at scientific meetings), and Research Excellence (periodically awarded for a significant body of work). We also financially support symposia on crustacean issues. Membership Forms can be downloaded at http://www.vims.edu/tcs • Benefits of Membership: • Members receive savings on page charges in JCB. • Members receive online access to JCB through www.BioOne.org. • Members receive access to all back issues of the journal through JSTOR. • Members receive complimentary pdf files of their publications in JCB. • Members can receive the Journal at cost! • Members receive lower registration fees at SICB and TCS functions. • Members receive the Ecdysiast biannually. • Members receive breaking news on CRUST-SOC. • Student members are eligible for two different fellowships. • Students are also eligible for Best Student Paper and Poster awards at several scientific meetings (e.g., SICB, TCS, ECC, ICC). • Students receive the journal at an excellent price! • Members enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow crustaceophiles! Membership Membership in the society is open to individuals or institutions interested in crustaceans. Upon payment of dues, members receive notices of the Society’s activities, voting privileges, and regular issues of the newsletter, The Ecdysiast . Members joining at the associate level or above also receive a subscription to the quarterly Journal of Crustacean Biology. Additional information is provided on the membership form on the TCS web site. The Journal of Crustacean Biology contains papers of broad interest dealing with any aspect of crustacean biology, obituaries of notable carcinologists, notices of business transacted at meetings of The Crustacean Society, book reviews of works on Crustacea, and pertinent announcements. Papers are published in English, but abstracts or summaries in French, German, Portuguese, or Spanish may be added when appropriate. Descriptions of single new species may be accepted if accompanied by significant information on zoogeography, ecology, phylogenetic relationships, or other biological concerns. JCB accepts articles from non-members.
