Employee ID Access at London Borough of Newham • In this scenario • We will show a nurse working in Newham PCT accessing multiple applications from inside Newham council • Access will be secured using a Government employee Information Card • We will show different ways of signing on to the applications (depending on their ability to accept standard ID tokens) • We will show Information Card access to a community partnership portal • And seamless service delivery for the end citizen
Nurse Florence receives an email from her manager who has seen a discrepancy in an invoice she raised
Windows Cardspace appears and Florence can see that her HM Government Employee card is lit up and can be used
Florence is able to view the employee information before it is sent to log her on.
Florence is now prompted to enter her password associated with the employee card
Florence is now logged on to the Newham partnership portal and her available applications are displayed
Florence now has access to the FMS system and can review the purchase order
Florence now selects the Document management system – the system offers two ways to logon (it does not support single sign on like FMS)
Once logged on, Florence is able to check the invoice data and check the amounts tally.
Florence is able to open the invoice using her word processor
Florence can compare the invoice with the original purchase order.
Finally, Florence wants to check the Social Care system to confirm exactly what care package was set up in the system.
This system only accepts proprietary logon information which Florence needs to remember.
Once logged in Florence finds the care package and double checks the details to find any error.
The error is spotted and Florence is able to update her manager with the problem.
Florence is able to update the finance manager on where the discrepancy arose.
Using the Newham Partnership Extranet • Florence’s role also includes managing a stop smoking campaign in support of wider public health activities in Newham • She provides content for a citizen portal on health related issues and interfaces directly with citizens and doctors to run the stop smoking program • One of Florence’s clients has now successfully completed the program
Florence has recieved an update mail from a local doctor who’s patient has now completed the stop smoking course
Having clicked the email link, Windows Cardspace appears and Florence can see that her HM Government Employee card is lit up and can be used
Florence is able to view the employee information before it is sent to log her on.
Florence is now prompted to enter her password associated with the employee card
Florence is now logged on and must complete the form before Mr Smith can claim his gift.
Florence has successfully completed the form and John Smith will not be informed directly.
Citizen Access to Newham Partnership Portal • John Smith has now completed his stop smoking course • He is eligible for a prize • This must be selected from an online list • He will use a government issued Information Card to access the site
John has received an email from his nurse and now needs to complete the online form
Having clicked on the link in the email, John’s PC starts Windows Cardspace. John can select to logon with the DirectGov card.
John is automatically sent to the correct page to complete the form.
John completes all the relevant information and selects submit.
John has successfully completed the course and his gift will be delivered to his home.
