  4. InItaly and Russia to celebrate the day men give yellow mimosas to women. Women sometimes get gifts from their imployers , too. School children bring gifts for their teachers.

  5. Inmost countries the custom of giving women flowers still prevails.

  6. InPortugal groups of women usually celebrate the 8 of March in ‘women-only’ dinners and parties.

  7. In 1932 the Soviet poster dedicated to the 8 of March holiday. The text read:’ The 8 of March is the day of rebellion of the working women against kitchen slavery.’

  8. In the USSR the holiday had a clear political character emphasizing the role of the Soviet state in the liberation of women.’

  9. Suffragettes in England campaigned for women`s rights to vote. The International Women`s Day celebrates women`s success.

  10. International Women`s Day was run in 1911. 2011 is the Global Centenary Year.
