  5. 1. I WILL BE SAFE. ARE YOU SEATED FLAT AND BACK?

  6. 1. I WILL BE SAFE. Children should never extend any body part out the bus window

  7. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. Wait quietly in line. Use an inside voice. Listen to the bus driver.

  8. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. WAITING SAFELY FOR THE BUS AT THE BUS STOP

  9. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. DO YOU PLAY FOOTBALL OR CATCH AT THE BUS STOP?

  10. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. DO YOU WRESTLE OR FIGHT AT THE BUS STOP?

  11. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. • Leave these items at home: • Balls • Skateboards • Balloons • Toys • Cell Phones • Game Boys • IPads ONLY SCHOOL RELATED ITEMS MAY BE TRANSPORTED ON THE BUS

  12. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. YOU SHOULD WAIT SAFELY IN LINE ON THE SIDEWALK WOULD YOUR PRINCIPAL BE PROUD OF THE WAY YOU WAIT FOR THE BUS?

  13. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. DO YOU USE A SOFT VOICE THAT LETS THE DRIVER HEAR ROAD SOUNDS?

  14. 2. I WILL BE RESPECTFUL. Listen to the bus driver

  15. 3. I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE. SEATED FLAT AND BACK Tell the driver if there is a problem. Keep aisle clear. Follow directions. NOSE AND TOES TO THE FRONT

  16. 3. I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE. When asked by your bus driver… Obey the driver Talk quietly Keep your hands to yourself Stay in your seat/face forward Keep the aisle clear SCHOOL BUS RULES

  23. WHEN STUDENTS DON’T FOLLOW THE RULES… THE BUS BECOMES UNSAFE FOR EVERYONE Be a safe rider…

BUS REFERRAL STEPS • Bus driver tells the student how to correct the unsafe behavior • Bus driver gives a warning to student to correct the unsafe behavior • Bus driver changes seat • Bus driver speaks to student one-on-one at school • Bus driver asks the Principal or Assistant Principal to board bus and • speak to students

  25. AUTOMATIC BUS REFERRALS • FIGHTING • WEAPONS • THREATS OF VIOLENCE •  obscene gestures •  abusive and/or obscene language •  threatening gestures

  26. AUTOMATIC BUS REFERRALS • VERBAL ABUSE TO DRIVER or OTHER STUDENTS •  taunting •  teasing •  name calling • PHYSICAL ABUSE TO DRIVER or OTHER STUDENTS

  27. DO YOU KNOW? WHAT ARE THESE STUDENTS DOING RIGHT? WHAT ARE THESE STUDENTS DOING WRONG?

  28. OUTSIDE OF THE BUS SAFETY WHAT IS THE DANGER ZONE?

  29. STAY OUT OF THE ZONE! OUTSIDE OF THE BUS SAFETY REMEMBER TO WALK AROUND THE CROSSING ARM!

  30. OUTSIDE OF THE BUS SAFETY CROSS IN VIEW - THE THING TO DO!

  31. OUTSIDE OF THE BUS SAFETY WHAT IS THIS BOY DOING RIGHT? MAKE SURE THE DRIVER CAN SEE YOU!

  32. OUTSIDE OF THE BUS SAFETY NEVER GO BACK FOR ANYTHING YOU HAVE DROPPED OR LEFT ON THE BUS! ALWAYS TELL A GROWN-UP

  33. YOUR DRIVER CARES ABOUT YOUR SAFETY!
