  7. Strengthen CC System • Change Title to Reflect System Changes • Country Coordinators (CCs) changed to Country Technical Representative(CTRs)

  8. Role of Country Technical Representative (CTR) • Act as mission’s advocate in Washington • Work closely with all Techical Offices and AFR/SD in supporting the field • Work with the mission to ascertain support needs

  9. Role of Country Technical Representative (CTR) • Provide or coordinates support needs • Keep mission informed/updated • Act as your Mission woman/man in Washington

  11. Strengthening TA • Improve the Response of GH technical staff • Strengthen Coordination Between AFR/SD & REDSO • Establish a TA Request System

  12. Through the Reorganization The Office of Regional and Country Support (RCS)was Established to Strengthen Support to the Field

  14. RCS Responsibilities • Support Country Coordination System • Act as Country Coordinators • Manage the TA Request System

  15. RCS Responsibilities • Provide or coordinate TA (procurement, strategic planning, program design, PMPs and coverage) • Provide support for Mission TDYs to Washington

  16. Strengthening Support to the Field • Change the GH Culture • Higher expectations of CTRs • Better oversight of CTRs • Establishing TA Request System

  17. Strengthen Support to the Field • Improved Coordination with: • Missions • Regional Bureaus • Technical Offices (POP/RH, HIV/AIDS, HIDN)

  18. Key Questions • Can GH make the paradigm shift? • Do we change names from CCs to CTRs? • CTRs for all countries or only selected countries? Criteria? Customized support? • Senior Advisor or Senior Advisors on-call? Country Teams?
