  3. Candor When would I use it? In what situations? What does this mean? How can it be used? Synonyms frankness, openness, honesty, truthfulness, sincerity, forthrightness, directness, plain-spokenness, bluntness, straightforwardness, outspokenness; informal: telling it like it is. noun the quality of being open and honest in expression; frankness: a man of refreshing candor. When someone speaks bluntly and openly about things. When I am forced to confront something directly. When someone is shockingly honest about something uncomfortable.

  4. Write a few sentences using the word: What personal connections can I make? Antonyms Deceit, Dishonesty, trickery, pretense, fraud, deception, duplicity, falseness reserved, withdrawn, introverted, inhibited, diffident, shy; uncommunicative, unforthcoming, unresponsive, tight-lipped, buttoned-up, quiet, taciturn, silent, guarded, secretive. • Situations in which people may use candor: • Giving advice to a friend • Teachers giving feedback to students • Whistle blowers revealing fraud • Sharing an opinion with someone I am not sure he appreciated my candor when I told him I didn’t like his outfit. Her candor was refreshing; I was glad someone finally said what we were all thinking.
