  1. Let’s see what happens if we fix mass and the mass, but vary the mass

  2. jtt Mass Study LAST TIME

  3. jtt Mass Study RECO MC h f • To test how often we pick the correct jet, must use Track Matching to determine which reconstructed jets are the “true” jets • Must determine how reconstructed jets (RECO) are distributed in h, and f relative to monte carlo (MC) jets in order to define a “match” • Dh = |hRECO – hMC| Dhmin = min{ |hiRECO – hMC| } • Df = |fRECO – fMC| Dfmin = min{ |fiRECO – fMC| } • Define

  4. jtt Mass Study • Distribution of DR shows a peak that determine the matched jets and an additional distribution of random jets • Distribution of DRmin shows a cut-off that can be used for jet matching

  5. jtt Mass Study • Define a “match”: DR <= 0.4 • Look at the PT distributions of jets that are matched and jets that are NOT matched • Order the jets by PT : PT0 highest PT jet • Which RECO jets are being matched to the MC jets?

  6. jtt Mass Study Can we develop an algorithm that picks the correct jets? • Define the average tt direction: • Determine DR distributions between average tt direction and the jets

  7. jtt Mass Study • Algorithm: (1) use jet0 and jet1 (2) pick jet closest in DR to average tt direction (3) if jtt mass is > than some mass cut, use other jet • Total of ~ 1900 counts in this sample • ~ 1100 were matched to jet0 or jet1 • ~ 650 of the 1100 RECO jets were picked correctly using this algorithm (60 %)

  8. jtt Mass Study PT 165 < 100 < 100 < 100 101 125 235 155 • Why are some MC jets matched to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th RECO jets? • Studied 20 random candidate events (events with neutralino2) • 1 event DIRECTLY produced a neutralino2 • 1 event where the highest PT jet came from the hard scattering • 10 events were similar to: • 2 events were the highest PT jet came from • 7 events where the highest PT jet came from
