Bush) • 2004 is the first (and so far only) major revision • ADA is not the same as ADAAG • ADA is civil rights legislation • ADAAG is closer to a building code for title III public accommodations • Section 707 of ADAAG codifies ATM installations after March 15, 2012 • Keypads, Newtons of force (22.2), reach ranges, clear floor space stay almost the same • Maximum elevations recede from 54” to 48” • Audio services become prescriptive and specific 3

  6. NH Standard Message Format Major Changes – 2010 vs. 1991 • These modifications are not retrospective • Machines installed to the 1991 specification before 3/15/12 are compliant • However, audio services are a problem • 1991 standard was performance based, not prescriptive • Lower maximum heights • Highest interoperable device from finished floor is 48” • Represents a 6” drop from pre-existing allowance • Most hardware already accommodates 48” • Keyboard mapping can also address high FDKs • Not simply for audio on touch • 1991 clear floor space requirements combine • Forward & parallel requirements • Audio Services specification • Requires private audio output • Requires expedited service, repetition, and volume control • Requires a braille instruction for activation • Does not require multiple languages 5
