Digital citizenship is an idea which enables teachers and parents to understand what students, young children and general technology users to know how to use the new technology in an appropriate responsible way. This idea is gaining pace around the world. Leaders of technology have come up with nine parts of digital citizenship. Digital citizenship
Technology users need to be aware that not everyone has the same opportunities when it comes to technology. We need to aim towards equal digital rights. By helping others to provide and expand access to technology should be the goal of all digital citizens worldwide. Technology users should be aware that some countries still have limited availability to the Internet, so alternative measures need to be provided. We all need to be responsible citizens to make sure no one is denied digital access. Digital Access
Users need to know that a large share of business is done electronically these days. Legal issues have to be addressed and resolved and the buyer and seller need to know their rights. Email, mobile phones, instant messaging etc. The rapidly expanding digital communications mean that people can keep in touch with people at all times. In every society around the world there are always people who steal, disrupt and deface. This is the same for digital communities. We cannot trust people in our communities and we must look to ourselves for safety. It is essential to have digital security, virus protection and backup of data and control of our computers.
