GE 101 Strategies for Academic Success First Year Experience Course
Textbook – Becoming a Master Student by Dave Ellis 9th Edition And Jefferson Community College Planner
Course Description Strategies For Academic Success Students will be taught how to have a successful college experience both academically and personally. The focus will be on the development of practical knowledge and skills to assist students toward that goal. Topics include time planning, test taking, study techniques, critical thinking, community resources, and managing the personal and relationship issues that face many students.
Students learn best when they are actively involved in the process. Research indicates that, regardless of the discipline or subject matter, students working in small groups tend to learn more and retain it longer than when other instructional methods are used. In addition, students who work in collaborative groups appear more satisfied with their classes. B. G. Davis
