  3. UFES Overview UFES is the main higher education institution in the state of Espirito Santo. It was founded in 1954, in Vitória. UFES offers 91 undergraduate courses and 50 Post-Graduate Programmes, with nearly 20.000 students.

International Partnerships Institutional partnerships involving several courses at Under-Graduate and Graduate levels: • Group de Ecole d´Mines (France) • University of Pittsburg (USA) • Virginia Tech (USA) • Université Du Littoral Côte D’Opale (France) • And several others In addition, there are various partnerships with Graduate Programmes, which involve joint research, academic visits and the students exchange at Graduate Level with external funding.

  30. Research Overview Most research activities are carried out by research groups integrating Post-Graduate Programmes. Yet, some research activities are also carried out outside these groups. UFES has a large Scientific Initiation Programme for under-graduated students, with approximately 1200 students enrolledannually.
