  1. Changes to the adoption process Alyssa Tigges Cornerstone 2013

  2. Attention • Evan’s Story • “In 2010, only 30,000 of the world’s nearly 18 million orphans were adopted by parents from other countries.” (GreenBlatt,2011). • According to the article, Regulating the Global adoption of Children, “Higher rates of infertility among couples and the childlessness of single adults create the initial motivation to adopt.” (Varnis, 2001).

  3. Need • When children are waiting to be adopted they are sitting in an orphanage or are being moved from foster home to foster home. There are millions of orphans in the world just waiting for a family and there are thousands of families looking to adopt each year.

  4. Satisfaction • According to the website, Adoption .org, “Generally speaking the younger the age range you are approved to adopt, the longer you are likely to have to wait” • In the article, The Real cost of Adoption, Yvette Brown talks about her personal experience of the adoption cost, "The cost was unbelievable!” “The tally included paying $1,750 for home study, a three- to six-month processwhere social workers examined all aspects of your home and family life to determine whether it is a safe environment for a child. Then there was the $ 1,000 she paid for a profile about herself, which would be shown to prospective birth mothers in choosing adoptive parents. Add to that $2,880 in attorney's fees to handle the legal aspects. When all was said and done, Brown spent $20,000 to $25,000 in total.” (Holmes,2012).

  5. Visualization • Promoting adoption • Lower expenses • Easier process • Better future
