  1. End of the Year By Roberto Gutierrez Trout

  2. Open Ocean The Habitat

  3. The Unique Habitat and Weather The weather and the climate dominate the open ocean in many ways. One way they dominate it are the underwater volcano. They explode and they get the water hot. Another thing that the climate and weather dominate is if you are close to the equator. If you are closer, it’s hotter. That’s how the weather and climate dominate the biome. The open ocean is a very unique habitat. There are many things that make it unique. One thing that makes it unique is the many species that live there. Another thing that makes the open ocean unique are the biotic and abiotic factors. The biotic factors are fish, plants and mammals. The abiotic are sunlight, water and temperature. That what makes the open ocean a unique place.

  4. The Landforms The landforms in the ocean are very basic. The main landform is the massive body of water. There are also islands that float on the ocean. That’s how the landforms in the ocean are very basic.

  5. Concerns There are some ecological concerns for the open ocean biome. One concern are the oil spills in the ocean. Another ecological concern is pollution. Humans have harmed the Earth by putting plastic bottles and other harmful things in the ocean. Those are some ecological concern for the ocean.

  6. Cells There are many differences between the animal cell and the plant cell. One difference is that the animal cell doesn’t have a cell wall but the plant cell does. Another difference is that the vacuole in the plant cell is larger than the one in the animal cell. Lastly, the animal cell use the respiration formula while the plant cell uses the photosynthesis formula. Those are the differences between the plant cell and the animal cell.

  8. Food Web The producer; The green algae is the producer of the open ocean. They can be microscopic or they can be seen by the human eye. They are eaten by a number of different animals like fish or krill. They use the photosynthesis formula to make food. (6 CO2 + 6 H20 ----> C6 + H12 + O6 + 6 O2) That’s why they are a producer of the ocean. Green Algae; Kingdom: Plantae, Phylum: Chlorophyta, Class: Ulvophyceae, Order: Ulvales, Family: Ulvaceae Genus: Ulvaria, Species: UlvariaFusca

  9. Food Web The Primary Consumer; The primary consumer of the open ocean is krill. One adaptation is how they swim. They don’t have fins so they have small legs and a tail to swim. Another adaptation is that instead of living in the cold, they live under dry valleys in the Antarctic. That’s how they have adapted to live in the ocean. Krill; Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Anthropoda, Class: Malacostraca, Order: Euphausiacea, Family: Euphausiidae, Genus: Euphausia, Species: Euphausiasuperba

  10. Food Web The Secondary Consumers; The secondary consumers of the ocean is the gray seal. They have adapted to their surroundings by not only living in the ocean, they also live on land. They have also adapted by have a fur coat to be warm inside. That’s how they have adapted to live in the ocean. Gray Seal; Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Chordata, Class: Mammalia, Order: Carnivora, Family: Phocidae, Genus: Halichoerus, Species: Halichoerusgrypus

  11. Food Web The Tertiary Consumer; The tertiary consumer is the great white shark. It White Shark; Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Chordata, Class: Chrondrichthyes, Order: Lamniformes, Family: Lamnidae, Genus: Carchardon, Species: Carchardoncarcharias
