FUNCTIONS OF COMMERCIAL DEPTARTMENT • GENERAL:- • Marketing of Railway Services • Commercial advertising and Publicity • Public relations • Carrying out traffic survey for new line, new traffic etc. • Naming station or change in name of Station • Justification of introducing new trains, new halts and wise a versa
PASSENGER BUSSINESS • Providing facility for booking of tickets, reservation, Enquiry offices etc. at stations • Opening/closing city booking offices, city booking agencies,out agencies • Provision of passenger amenities and it’s up keeping • Dealing with public complaints • Ticket checking • Giving Refund to passengers on demand as per rules
PARCEL BUSINESS • Booking of parcels at parcel offices at station • providing facilities for loading, unloading and delivery of parcels • accrual, waiver and refund of demurrage and warfage charges on parcels. • open and assessment deliveries of parcels • Running L.P.O.
FREIGHT BUSSINESS • Providing booking facility for goods at stations. • Providing facilities for goods handling at goods sheds. • Accrual and Waiver of demurrage and wharfage charges • Implementing the rating policies of Railway Board • Grant concessions in Railway Fares and freight rates like “station to station rates”
CLAIMS • Dealing with claims cases against railways • settlement of claim cases • To take claims prevention measures to avoid claims • court cases pertaining to claims
OTHER FUNCTIONS • Catering management • Dealing with sidings-charges, agreement etc. • Remittance of station earning • Clearance of station outstanding • Holding meetings with Railway Users at div. Zonal and Railway Board level
