Technical Activities • Technical Seminars • IAS Distinguished Lecture on automotive electric motor drives and power electronics. • Three other industry/academic seminars. • Technical Site Tours • ABB SmartGrid Center of Excellence tour. • Tour of Shearon Harris nuclear plant. • Field visit SAS PV energy system.
Sponsored Student Activities • Student Travel Grants at IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE) 2012 • Industry Student Dinner at IEEE ECCE 2012 • Travel Grants to IEEE North Carolina State University (NCSU) Student Branch
IAS Conference • IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, Raleigh, North Carolina, September 15-20, 2012. • Over 1200 people attended conference. • More than 700 technical papers presented. • More than 40 exhibitors participated atexposition. • A total of 8 tutorials were given to local Chapter members and attendees.
Membership Growth and Support • Endorsed Chapter members for senior member nominations and applications. • Recognized IEEE members at Awards and Recognition Luncheon. • Partnered with the IEEE Professional Activities Committees for Engineers (PACE). Organized a series of professional development and career training seminars for members.
