  6. What will change? • ~10,000 high paying jobs in area • First 4 star command in Alabama • New companies will relocate • NASA may also be experiencing growth

  7. The Schedule • Facilities must be constructed ($403.2M construction + $256.0Mother) • 1,645,206 square feet • 2006-2010 partial moves will occur • 2010-2011 majority of moves will occur

  8. 2006-2007 • Construction money is on track • Von Braun II completed • MDA hires national recruiting firm • Madison County Commission awarded OEA Planning Grant for regional BRAC efforts • 1,032 planned to move by end of 2007

  9. 2008 • 2nd Recruiting Brigade facility completed • 2nd Recruiting Brigade relocates • 724 jobs planned to relocate to RSA • Cumulative moves: ~1,756

  10. 2009 • Major construction underway • 232 jobs planned to move • Cumulative moves: ~1,988

  11. 2010 • Construction continues • Phase I of MDA HQ’s completed • Rotary wing/ATTC HQ completed • AMC/USASAC HQ completed • ~1,600 jobs planned to move • Cumulative moves ~3,588

  12. 2011 • MDA Phase 2 completed • Rotary wing Hangar Completed • ~1,100 jobs planned to move • Cumulative moves ~4,700 • BRAC 2005 completed!!!!

  14. Workforce Challenges • Majority will be engineers and logisticians • Area’s unemployment rate for engineers is <1% • Employees must qualify for security clearances • Numerous job opportunities in N. Va. Area • Decision to move is several years in future--people are not focused on a decision
