  1. Organization of a Research Lab Members of a Lab and their Roles

  2. Principal Investigator Must ensure that unbiased, reproducible research is conducted. In charge of public relations, finances, and coordination with sponsors of the research.

  3. Research Lab Specialist Responsible for the actual experiments being conducted and devoted to the area of study that the research revolves around.

  4. Post-Doctoral Associates Knowledgeable experts that are capable of collaborating with the specialist, providing helpful insight. Aid the specialist in conducting the experiments and progressing the research.

  5. Graduate Students Aid in and learn about the research process from the experts. Observe the experts so that they may imitate their professionalism in their own research endeavours.

  6. Collaborators Associate experts of the topic being researched; Provide helpful insight from off the research sight. May conduct their own experiments concerning the topic and compare them.

  7. Test Questions 1. Why is the Research Lab Specialist special? 2. Why would a research group collaborate with other groups? 3. What problems might a principal investigator run into that might slow down the research process?
