L3 – Language, Learning and Literacy • L3 is a research based, cost effective Kindergarten classroom intervention. • L3 provides rich literacy experiences to support all students in Kindergarten to become successful Readers and Writers.

Autism Classes • We are very lucky to have two Autism Support Classes at Garden Suburb P.S. This year we have the Green Frogs, which has students from Kinder to Year 3 and the Gold Frogs which has students from Years 3 to 6. • These classes are filled via a placement panel at district office. Applications for these classes are completed by the home school, however the final decision rests with the placement panel.

A typical day… 9.10 – Morning Routine: roll, note collection, lunch orders, days of the week, weather etc. 9.30 –L3 Reading Groups 10.15 –Crunch and Sip 10.30 –L3 Writing Groups 11.10 – LUNCH 12.00 –Mathematics 1.00 –Other KLA (Science, Computers, HSIE, Art, PD/H/PE 2.00 – RECESS 2.25 –Other KLA or Play 2.55 –Home (first 2 weeks) 3.10 –Home

Things to remember… • Label everything – even shoes, socks, lunch boxes, containers and drink bottles. • Tie your child’s hair up • In the first week or two Kindergarten children come straight to the classroom in the morning • Pick your child up from the classroom or inform the class teacher of pick up arrangements
Things to remember… • Be on time for drop off and pick up • Late arrivals and early pick up need to get a note from the office • Notes when your child is absent • Leave promptly when you drop them off • Name tags (for the first few weeks) • Money and the canteen • Hat, water, sunscreen and insect repellent • Lunch, Recess and Crunch and Sip • Information Evenings
Is my child ready? We don’t expect your child to read and write! The following skills are useful when starting school: • Can your child ask for help? • Can your child open and close their school bags and lunch boxes? • Does your child know how to open a book correctly? • Can your child dress themselves… including shoes and socks? • Is your child happy to play with others?
