What is the Heart Stopper Challenge?Prior to heart operations heart children are often cooled down in ice, sometimes turning blue in the process. This was the inspiration for the creation of theHeart Stopper Challenge. Plunging into an 8℃ pool spiked with ice is symbolic of what happens to children having open heart surgery. They are put on a bypass machine which beats for them while their heart is stopped. The ice packed around the children is to slow down their metabolism.
The Heart Stopper Challenge tries to symbolise what the kids go through.
