Begriffsbestimmung • Consumer Notebook • Zielgruppe Einzelplatz-Nutzer • relativ geringe Mobilität • je nach Einsatzschwerpunkt zumeist einige eher schwächere Komponenten • Business Notebook • Zielgruppe Netzwerk-Nutzer • hohe Mobilität • umfassende Einsatzgebiete verlangen stabile Komponenten

Konfiguration • Ein Notebook besteht aus verschiedenen Komponenten • Festplatte, DVD/CD-Laufwerk, Grafikkarte • Soundkarte, Netzwerkkomponenten etc. • jede dieser Komponenten benötigt einen „Treiber“ im Betriebssystem • bei verschiedenen Modellen muss jedes Notebook individuell installiert werden • bei gleichen Modellen kann eine einmal vorgefertigte Installation rasch auf jedes Notebook aufgespielt werden

Konfiguration • bei einer Notebook-Klasse ist das Notebook ein unentbehrliches Arbeitsgerät • deshalb müssen Ausfallzeiten möglichst gering gehalten werden • bei Problemen kann das Standard-Schulsystem rasch wieder aufgesetzt werden – das Privatsystem und die Daten bleiben erhalten • deshalb ist eine möglichst einheitliche Hardware ein wesentlicher Erfolgsfaktor für dieses Projekt
