  23. What is Different Between ISL9 & ISL G?

  24. Technical Specifications

  25. ISL9 & ISL G Ratings

  26. ISL9 Ratings for Truck Applications Governed Speed: 2100 rpm

  27. ISL9 Restricted Ratings for Fire Truck and Emergency Vehicles Governed Speed: 2100 rpm

  28. ISL G Ratings Governed Speed: 2100 - 2200 rpm

  29. ISL9 Maintenance Intervals *Assuming normal duty cycle **OEM supplied, intervals may vary *** If equipped with optional water filter, change with oil filter

  30. ISL G Truck Maintenance Intervals ¹ If engine is equipped with an optional coolant filter, it will need to be replaced at the same intervals as the oil filter. Regardless if the engine is or is not equipped with a coolant filter, SCA/DCA additive levels must be checked according to the interval listed in the Owners Manual. *Assuming normal duty cycle/based on average speed. **Do not change if SCA above 3 ***Initial Overhead Adjustment at 1,000 hours

  31. Cummins Aftertreatment Systems 2010 EPA

  32. Cummins Aftertreatment SystemHow it Works • The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) collects and oxidizes carbon to remove particulate matter (PM) by more than 90% • The SCR system reduces NOx levels by converting it to nitrogen and water • The Decomposition Reactor connects the DPF and SCR catalysts, and includes the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing valve

  33. ENGINE-OUT EGR NOx PM PM Filter PM Filter ENGINE-OUT SCR SCR TAIL-PIPE OUT 0.2 TAIL-PIPE OUT 0.01 Cummins Aftertreatment System DEF Dosing Valve Decomposition Reactor Cummins Particulate Filter Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Catalyst

  34. 5-6% improvement for ISX15 in fuel economy versus 2007 90%+ NOx conversion Copper zeolite materials have transformed SCR for on-highway heavy-duty diesel applications Compelling advantages versus the in-cylinder solution Copper Zeolite Structure Step-Change in SCR Technology

  35. Operator InterfaceHeavy Duty and Medium Duty Engines with SCR

  36. HEST Lamp High Exhaust Temperature DPF Lamp Diesel Particulate Filter Diesel Exhaust Fluid Lamp Low level warning Malfunction Indicator Lamp OBD (On-board Diagnostics) Emissions non-compliance indication 2010 Aftertreatment Dash Lamps MIL Lamp

  37. Response to Low DEF Tank Level Cummins Confidential * Use of audible tones with notification is optional and OEM specific ** The system will attempt to build pressure on a key-cycle or after the tank is filled to a level that will clear stage 3.

  38. Response to Incorrect DEF * Once incorrect reducing agent (DEF) has been detected the vehicle must be taken to an authorized service center to deactivate the warning lights and inducements.

  39. On Board Diagnostics • Cummins ISX15 engines rated 400hp - 450hp • Malfunction Indicator Lamp • Indicated emissions non-compliance

  40. On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) • Vehicle System Monitors • Cooling system • Vehicle sensors, actuators, switches, malfunction-indicator lamp • Engine Monitors– Emission Thresholds • Fuel system • EGR/air handling systems • Sensors & actuators, lamps, switches … • Aftertreatment Monitors – Emission Thresholds • Particular Filter (DPF) • Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) • DEF Tank • Service Information • Requirements • Service tools • 3rd party • Ease of repair MIL Lamp • ECM • Monitors/algorithms • Fault recording Cummins Confidential

  41. Diesel Exhaust Fluid Update

  42. What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)? • Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is the reactant for the SCR system • Urea is solid at room temperature • DEF is prepared by dissolving solid Urea to create 32.5% solution in purified water • Gives lowest freezing point

  43. Since 2003, Cummins Filtration has offered the following DEF products for use in stationary diesel engines: 55 gallon drums 275 gallon disposable totes 330 gallon plastic totes Bulk Smaller package sizes available mid-2009: 1 gallon 2.5 gallons 5 gallons Cummins Filtration DEF

  44. How Much DEF Will I Use? • Approximately 2 - 3% DEF consumption Every 50 gallons of fuel = 1 gallon of DEF

  45. Driving Range with One Tank of DEF 6900 miles Driving Range with One DEF Tank 3900 miles 1800 miles 13 gallons 23 gallons 6 gallons DEF Tank Size

  46. DEF Freezing When the truck is shut down: All DEF is purged from the supply lines DEF in the tank is allowed to freeze at temperatures below 12°F (-11°C). When the truck is started with frozen DEF: It is fully operational as the DEF thaws with the help of immersion and supply line heaters. EPA Requires DEF flow within 70 minutes

  47. Acidic pH DEF Properties • Non-toxic and non-flammable • Safe to handle and store • Poses no serious risk to humans, animals, equipment or the environment if properly handled • The product is slightly alkaline with a pH of approximately 9.0

  48. CPF Regeneration Average Ambient Temperature (48 hrs) Very Cold Cold Cool Hot < 1% Very Light 1% Extreme < 15% Light 16% Duty-Cycle Active > 85% Moderate 65% Passive Heavy 18% 1% 18% 59% 22% Percentage Vehicle Miles Traveled
