  2. Aztecs were Indian people who dominated Central Mexico. • The Aztec Empire were a group of people called the Mexicas.

  3. They had scribes for each branch of knowledge. Some dealt with the annals (order of the things. which happened each year, giving the day, month, and hour, others had charge of the genealogies, recording lineage of rulers, lords and noblemen, registering the newborn and deleting those who had died.) The Aztecs language was Nahuatl.

  4. The Aztec's religion was a mixture of various people. They believed that it took the gods 5 tries to create the world. The creator-gods would take turns being the sun.

  5. The calendar was dedicated to the sun god. Cuauhxicalli Eagle Bowl was the name of the calendar.

  6. The temples were used to worship, pray, and make offerings to the gods.

  7. The Aztecs main food source were Maize (Corn), tomatoes, avocados, atole (porridge), tortillas made from maize and tamales, a envelope made from steamed maize with vegetables or meat. They ate twice daily. The main meal was eaten during the hottest part of the day. Food that was available at the market would include fruit, vegetables, spices, edible flowers, edible dogs, and birds.

  8. In the Aztec culture chocolate was reserved for warriors and nobility. The Aztecs had an acholic drink called Octli. Octli was also reserved for royalty, nobles, and warriors. Any nobleman who drank ang got drunk from it was put to death.

  9. Jewelry was also an important component for the Aztecs. It is said that the amount of decoration on someone indicated how wealthy they were. Aztec clothing was often made of beautiful fabric, though the quality of the fabric was dependent on the wearer.

  10. For Aztec people art was usually a form of religious expression and would be a way to pay tribute to their gods. In addition to art being a form of religious expression the Aztecs also made sculptures made from stones.

Aztec dance is a mix of thousands of years of history of both agrarian and militaristic ethnic groups of the area, and the integration of pre-Columbian and Christian rituals as evolved over centuries. The Dance… Aztec dance or “Danza Azteca” in Spanish is one of the most basic manifestations of the artistic ans cultural spirit of the native people of Mexico.

  12. The Aztec government was not like any other forms of government in that time period. It was more of a system of tribute where conquered cities paid respect to Aztec empire. Along with paying respect they also paid in a form of money. Conquered cities tended to show an increase in their own welfare.

  13. Tattoos were an important factor in Aztec culture. They used them in rituals, particularly those dedicated to Uitzilopochtle. Each individual tattoo design were specifically chosen to symbolize a god. In these rituals a priest would use a pointed stone to draw symbols on the stomach, chest, and wrist’s of children of the tribe and were intended to show their devotion to the god.
