  1. 5 Effective Ways to Clean Chromatography Vials ======================================================== Chromatography is the method of separating, testing, and purifying compounds. The entire process significantly depends on the quality and precision of the equipment used. One example is chromatography vials. They are temporary sample containers designed to store samples for liquid chromatography (LC) or gas chromatography (GC) analysis. The cleanliness and condition of chromatography vials affect the efficiency and accuracy of findings. Thus, this blog highlights some ways to clean & maintain chromatography sample vials. Common vial cleaning methods often suggested by a standard storage vials supplier are: Dry Cleaning This method requires cleaning the vials with a lint-free wipe or cloth to eliminate any impurities. After cleaning, rinse the vials thoroughly using deionized water and leave them to dry. Please remember that chromatography vials that are highly polluted should not be cleaned using this procedure. Alcohol Cleaning Start the procedure by immersing empty chromatography vials in 95% ethyl alcohol. Wash them ultrasonically two times and then drain them. Fill the vials with clean water and clean them ultrasonically two times. Drain the clean water and bake the chromatography vials for at least an hour or two at a temperature lower than 110 degrees Celsius. Let the vials cool down before you store them. theclinivex.com

  2. Methanol and Ultrasonic Cleaning Soak the chromatography vials in methanol and clean them ultrasonically for about twenty minutes. Drain the methanol solution and fill the vials with clean water. Before draining the water, clean the vials for twenty minutes and leave them to dry. Hydrogen Peroxide and Alcohol Cleaning Start the procedure by rinsing the vials with clean water and leaving them to dry. Once dried, soak the vials with a strong lotion of hydrogen peroxide. Soak the vials for four hours or more using medical alcohol and perform ultrasonic cleaning for about thirty minutes. Empty the solution, rinse the chromatography vials with clean water and leave them to dry. Potassium Dichromate and Methanol Cleaning Soak the chromatography vials in a strong potassium dichromate solution for one day. Then, wash the vials at least three times with deionized water. Ensure that the procedure is performed under ultrasonic conditions. Lastly, wash the vials one time with methanol and leave them to dry. Before using, replace the chromatography vial gasket with a new one to ensure that the quantitative results are not affected. Conclusion Cleaning and maintaining chromatography vials regularly is crucial to avoid a negative impact on the results. Please note that the cleaning methods are inclusive of but not limited to the ones discussed here. Additionally, the quality and condition of the chromatography vials will affect the outcome of the experiment, so ensure that you source them from a trusted chromatography lab vial supplier.
