  1. Protocol SpecificationChanges from -06 to -07 Donald Eastlake 3rd +1-508-786-7754 Donald.Eastlake@motorola.com Protocol Draft -06 to -07

  2. Tentative Plan • Update to protocol draft -07 based on the outcome from this Vancouver meeting as confirmed/resolved on the mailing list. • Then, three reviews in parallel: • Working Group Last Call • IEEE 802.1 Review • L2VPN / IETF Expert Review • Assuming the results of these reviews are reasonably minor and can be resolved reasonably easily, request IETF Last Call on draft -08. Protocol Draft -06 to -07

  3. Tentative -06 to -07 Changes • Pseudo code improvements, primarily in completeness. • Anoop Ghanwani was accidentally left off the author list for -06 and will be added in -07. • As pointed out in the Architecture draft, currently broadcast, unknown unicast, and non-IP-derived multicast frames are output to all links. This is wasteful if there are no end stations on the link. Provide that a port can be configured so as to be disabled for end station traffic. Protocol Draft -06 to -07

  4. Tentative -06 to -07 Changes • Provide for a port to be configured as leading to a point-to-point link directly to another Rbridge. Such a port would be disabled on receipt of a native data frame or a Hello from a different Rbridge. TRILL frames sent on such a port MAY use the All-Rbridges multicast address as their fixed outer destination and source addresses. • Current draft specifically asserts Rbridges do not support GVRP (GARP VLAN Registration Protocol) which, in any case, has been replaced by MVRP. Update and change to MAY support. Protocol Draft -06 to -07
