Faith/ Life Inquiry 2014 @ Good Samaritan

What is Faith/Life Inquiry – (very very quick snapshot) Recontextualisation = What is this? Recontextualisation is a regular thing and happens for us all the time, for example, the renovating of a lounge room…
In a Catholic PS this means… • Inquiring into old and new stories • Engaging in a collaborative and pluralistic society • Deep encounter with Catholic Tradition and contemporary life • Inquiring into text and its context
Our Goal @ Good Sam (down the track) Ultimately our goal for Faith/ Life Inquiry is to connect the two ideas (faith/life) so that they become so fused that it is impossible to comprehend one aspect without the other. Research says that as a result of this Hermeneutical Communicative Dialogue Model learners become more actively informed Christian citizens and ultimately ‘stronger’ in their faith.
However, at the moment… A couple of things to note: In the below the line planning we insert both the RE and Inquiry and label appropriately, you might even have to mark them both RE/Inquiry because its hard to nominate which one specifically. As a result it is imperative that you have your Learning Intention planned prior to the learning activity.

Below the Line A few more things to consider before we have some planning time:
Catholic Tradition Lent Easter Sacraments - Reconciliation Jesus life before death etc These are not negotiable and must be a focus We are still using the RE Framework – we are just being smarter about how we use it
Thinking Processes AusVELS – How are we engaging our students in real life complex problems that promote thinking skills?
All young Australians become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens – Melbourne Declaration Goals for Young Australians What is the learning here? Is it worth learning?
Planning Time… We will come back later to share. Please be ready to share
