  3. How Does it work? When you buy a new electronic appliance, make sure it has energy monitor support and fill in you Social Energy profile. Now all you need to do is go to our site and monitor your consumption. You will receive alerts if any of your appliance is misbehaving. Your consumption is shared with other Social Energy Meter users.

  4. Motivation • Exposing consumers to their actual electricity consumption, per appliance, by sharing it with others. Goal • Making a “reliability-standard” for electricity appliances products. Costumers • Individual consumers that wish to track their power consumption in real-time, and be notified upon “unusual electricity behavior”. • Consumers and Reviewers that wish to learn and compare consumption per manufacture / model / location / user profile etc…

  6. Wishful thinking / Next Phases • Motivate retailers to sell the meters with the appliance. • Embed energy monitor transmission units in the appliances (co-operation with a vendor). • Mobile App. • Using the same platform for additional metering (water/gas/fuel consumption…)

  7. Weekathon Developing Statistics • 45,000 measurement data base entries posted by the E-mon HTTP client. • 7,300 lines of code were written. • 4 full days of development • 3 engineers • 2.176 shekels – The cost of this project: • During those 4 days, Our 3 laptops total measured consumption was 3.4KwH (with 0.64 shekels for KwH) • Platforms used: • AppHarbor Web hosting • BitBucket source control • ASP.Net MVC4 • mySQL • WPF • OpenEMON • Arduino IDE
