  2. Ozone injury O3 *click! Uptake and Action of Ozone in photosynthetic active plant cells as model for a general Stress response. uptake “dry deposition” *click! Apoptosis is the result of an overload by reactive Oxygen species Stomata pore drought stress Apoplast Oxidative Burst Intercellular spaces *click! Cytoplasm internal free surface area Chloroplast *click! Glutathione, Ascorbate Halliwell-Cycle> Cell wall Xanthophyll-Cycle Protonation, Zeaxanthin> *click! *click! Carbonic anhydratase Tunnel proteins Assimilatory power CO2 * *click! * protection> overload *click! water from xylem Plasmalemma Sucrose Photosynthesis *click! Tocopherol ß-Carotin Zeaxanthin> Electron- and Proton transport Phloem loading *click! e.g. Starch-Biosynthesis in tubers, grain filling *click! In the end all stress factors inhibit CO2 uptake. Than the Calvin Cycle does not need anymore assimilatory power. In the light a feed back reaction creates reactive oxygen species (ROSINT) at PSI and PSII. If ROSINT overload the stress compensation capacity, the cell will get destroyed. H.R. Bolhàr-Nordenkampf M.H.
