Personal stuff about me • Graduated Paramount HS in 2005. • I was in the US Marine Corps from ‘07-’13 as a reservist while attending CSUDH. • I graduated in CSUDH in 2012 with a BS in Mathematics Education and about to earn a MA Curriculum & Instruction. • Being teaching in the district for 2years. • Taught Algebra 1 at South East HS for 2 years • Currently teaching Algebra 2

  3. Beliefs • I believe all students can achieve. • I believe in all students can learn. • I believe all students can perform if they set their minds to it. • I believe in giving students second chances as we are all human and sometimes deal with issues beyond our control.

  4. Classroom Expectations The 5 P’s • Polite: Be respectful to self and others, swearing, talkback, bullying and profanity will not be allowed. • Prompt: Be in class on time, enter the classroom quietly and immediately go to your assigned seat. Students are marked tardy if they enter the classroom after the bell has finished ringing. • Prepared: Bring all materials, necessary work to class. • Notebook, pencils, highlighters, colored pens, calculator, and ruler. • Productive: Maximize learning time by staying on task, follow directions, and remain seatedexcept when excused. Put in your best effort. • Patient: Wait respectfully and calmly for your turn. Listen while other are called upon, you may be asked to repeat what was said. Any phone seen will be taken by teacher/security.

  5. Grading Policy Categories: Notebook10% Classwork30% Homework10% Assessments40% includes: Quizzes, Tests, Benchmarks Final Exam10% • Grading Policy: • A = 90% - 100% • B = 80% - 89% • C = 70% - 79% • D = 60% - 69% • F = 0% - 59%

  6. Homework is given at the end of our notes, very few finish it in class. • Its checked the next day, student can earn full credit if turned in by the end of the week; latest to turn in is the following Friday. • If there is a grade of zero, that means your child never turn in the assignment. • I am available during Lunch Mondays through Thursdays.

  7. Assessments • Students are assessed every week. • Students can retake an assessment if they failed or did not like their grade. This is usually during lunch or after school. • Anybody caught cheating while taking a test will score a zero and will not be allowed to retake that assessment. • Students are able to retake their assessment by coming to tutoring to make the corrections and then they will be able to retake a different version of their assessment.

  8. Help Centers (Tutoring). • I am available during Lunch Monday through Friday. Mondays afterschool in the Library and Thursdays afterschool in 5104. • There is tutoring • Library Mon, Tue, & Thur afterschool • Room 5104 Tue & Thur afterschool
