Traction and Success • Brazil—In October 2011, passed its long-stalled Access to Information Law. • UK—In December 2011, undertook largest data release since taking office, publishing essential information on everything from weather and house price data to transport and health information. • United States—In late 2011, President signed a memorandum to modernize the nation’s management of government records; signed on to the International Aid Transparency Initiative, and is adopting the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. • Philippines—In early 2012, government announced that it will revive a long-stalled Access to Information bill in Congress and attempt to pass this year.
