  1. Pet Photography How To Photograph Your Pet for Drawing http://drawsketch.about.com/od/learntodrawanimals/ss/petphotography_7.htm

  2. Viewing Objectively-We usually see our pets through rose-colored glasses - we don't notice the bad photo, only seeing the pet we adore.

  3. Framing Your Shot - Get the Tail In, Too! • You can always crop down to what you what to draw.

  4. Make the Camera's Eye View your pet’s Eye View • Getting down to your pet's eye view helps you to get a better perspective view that is easier to draw correctly.

  5. Flash vs Natural Light • Unless you have a pro flash setup, don't use a flash. Photographs almost always looks better taken in natural light.

  6. The camera flash, especially up close, floods the subject with light, flattening the tones, leaving you few shadows with which to model the form.

  7. Shadows and Highlights • Using natural, angled light when photographing your pet gives you strong shadows and highlights that help you model the form convincingly.

  8. Take Lots of Shots • Take plenty of shots of your pet until you get that perfect picture. Take some extras - wide views showing background, close-ups showing detail of fur and features - so that you have additional references to complete your picture.
