  6. STAMI: ST Advanced Metering Interface Web Tool for the advanced Network Management STAMI: dedicated Web Interface to collect (on demand and real time) specific high quality data stored in smart meters for network management purposes. STAMI allows to access to the following data stored in Smart Meters: STAMI interface • Voltage Quality • Voltage Outages On field installed Smart Meters • Monthly consumption • Load Profile • Power threshold Web Client Network Control Center Workstations • Daily consumption The European Utility Award for 2010 has been awarded to Enel for STAMI

  7. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Architecture 1 Users send requests through STAMI interface Interface available on Enel Intranet and on the workstations installed in Network Control Centers STAMI Interface GSM/GPRS or PSTN LVC 2 3 Server Zeus processes requests directly connecting with Smart meters through concentrators in secondary substation. Security to read meters is managed by Zeus Itself Requests are forwarded to STAMI WS which interacts with Server ZEUS LV network Web Server Zeus Web interface for Telegestore AMM

  8. Main features and tools for the Operation Management Main Features and related benefits • Customer Service: Improvement of Customer Service and LV operation activity related to customer request • Network Operations: Optimization of Work Force Activities Electricity Regulator Compliance: Provide reliable and immediate data related to LV continuity and quality of supply Energy Balance: Effectively localize energy fraud & theft

  9. Main features and tools for the Operation Management VOLTAGE INTERRUPTIONS Customer Service • Support the Control Center Operator in case of customer request: Customer satisfaction improvement 1 • STAMI operator can give immediate feedback in case of customer service anomalies 2 4 3 Real time response from field installed equipment • Throw STAMI it is possible to check voltage presence and voltage quality at the supply terminal without involving a crew for verification on field Immediately check defaulting customer • STAMI allows to check the power threshold available to the customer to immediately localize a bad payer VOLTAGE QUALITY POWER THRESHOLD (%) 10

  10. Main features and tools for the Operation Management Operations STAMI support daily Low Voltage Network Operations Activity: Low Voltage Network supervising LV line fault • In case of LV customer warning call, STAMI operator is able to real time check the condition of the LV network supplying the electronic meter. Electronic Meter fault Optimization of Work Force activities In case of LV network fault, STAMI operator may immediately verify the origin of the anomaly and program the activity on field. VOLTAGE INTERRUPTIONS VOLTAGE QUALITY

  11. Main features and tools for the Operation Management Electricity Regulator Compliance Reliable and immediate data related to LV supply • Throw STAMI It is possible to directly see voltage outages without waiting for documentation STAMIoperator Voltage Interruptions recording Thanks to STAMI it is possible to identify LV outages with the exact indication of the beginning and the end On field technician VOLTAGE INTERRUPTIONS • Low voltage faults and interruptions form • Date/Hour/Time .... • Interruption .... • Fault .... • Username .... Quality of service monitoring • Quality of service data related to MV/LV TR and LV lines available throw STAMI may be used for reporting

  12. Main features and tools for the Operation Management Energy Balance DAILY CONSUMPTIONS STAMI operators are able to perform detailed analysis on the LV network, providing support to the crews in the identification of frauds Energy Balance Load profile By accurate analysis, it allows to identify precisely the customers to be checked on field For more accurate analysis, STAMI allows to upload and analyze data coming from portable energy balance meters (ALVIN) Central access Effectively localize energy fraud & theft Acquisition of load profile and daily consumptions to support fraud detection Energy Balance meter Intranet Enel MV/LV On field access

  15. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Web Interface: main operations Data request Used to send data requests: it is possible to directly ask about a Meter, a Concentrator, a customized group of meters Status of transactions Used to display all the data requests and to check their status. Information Viewing It makes possible to quickly access and download the results coming from user requests ALVIN Management Used to upload and analyze data coming from portable energy balance meters (ALVIN)

  16. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Data availability from Electronic Meters • Voltage Quality Period, Instantaneous Voltage value, VMIN and VMAX for each phase, number of samples in the allowed range (230V+-10%), number of samples out of allowed range. Electronics meters record a value every ten minutes: 1008 samples a week available. • Voltage Outages Period, onset time, duration of the interruption, affected phase, electric line involved • Monthly consumption Date, energy consumption value in a billing period on T1, T2 and T3

  17. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Data availability from Electronic Meters • Load Profile Graph and list of active and reactive power consumption and active power feeding the grid (in case of active customers). Electronic Meter stores Power average value every 15 minutes • Power threshold Percentage of contractual power available to the customer • Daily consumption Date and daily value of energy consumption

  18. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Viewing information menu: Power Threshold Defaulting Customer In case of a customer's phone call, Enel doesn’t need to send a technician on site to check if he is a bad payer.

  19. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Viewing information menù: Voltage Outages The fault can affect one or more phases

  20. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Load Profile • A Load Profile Request returns to the operator a set of graphs with the average active and reactive power consumption profile and, in case of active customers, the active power feeding the grid. • Instead of a graphic representation it is also possible to display the list of the average power consumption values stored in the smart meter every 15 minutes. • It is possible to send a Load Profile request for a single Smart Meter or a whole MT/bt Transformer. In this case STAMI returns the load profile of each Smart Meter, the Load profile, in a unique curve, of the sum of al the smart meters connected to the TR and the load profile of the energy balance meter installed in the secondary substation. • It is possible draw the Load profile of each LV line feed by the Transformer, to create any customized group of meters of which the operator wants to draw the Load Curve, to upload and display the Load curve recorded by ALVIN, the portable energy balance meter. Active Customer Load Profile: set of graphs available for each meter.

  21. STAMI: Advanced Metering Interface Load Profile Transformer Load Profile Measured Energy Balance Meter Aggregation of customers’ Load Profiles Sum of Energy measured by each Smart Meter Probable energy fraud Between 9.00 am to 6.00 pm the difference between the 2 curves is greater than the expected technical losses: a verification on field is needed

  22. Metering activities Rules and Obligations: Italian Timebased Tariff Regulation Following the introduction of the Telegestore, the Italian Regulator established specific metering rules depending on the characteristic of the customer: • For HV, MV and LV customers with power installed >55 kW it is mandatory a meter reading each hour. • For LV customers with power installed <55 kW the reading is done per consumption timeslots, F1, F2, F3, compliant with the timebased tariff regulation.
