Coach L. Stewart Rooms: 309 AND TEC Lab 1 Personal Finance
This course is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to manage their personal finances now and into the future. Specific focus is given to resume writing, managing a personal checking account, investments, personal income tax, and consumer issues such as automobile loans. Students will also have the opportunity to put their newly learned skills to the test in a nationwide, internet-based stock market game. Course Description
Student activities will consist of textbook work and projects categorized within the areas of banking, investments, consumer issues, career, financial statements, and tax. Student Activities
Grading will occur on a variety of assignments including class performance, textbook, work, article reviews, projects, quizzes, tests, a mid-term, and a final exam. Grades are calculated on a total point system (total points earned/ total points possible) Grading
The method of instruction will encompass a facilitation of cooperative learning activities and the assignment of individual work. There will be a strong emphasis on concept learning to include the presentation of textbook subject matter and the encoding of content through the completion of classroom projects. The school tardy policy applies to this classroom. Each nine weeks the student is allowed three “free tardies.” Every tardy after the three “free tardies” will result in morning, afternoon, or break detention. Tardy Policy
No makeup credit for unexcused absences. Makeup work due to an excused absence is due within five school days of the absence. The instructor will NOT remind you. This is entirely your responsibility. Makeup Work
All students must pay a fee of $25.00. This fee is due before you receive a grade on your report card. Students that do not pay their fee will receive NC in the place of their average. Students may pay small amounts towards their Lab Fee until it is paid in full. Students are expected to bring all money for fees no later than 1:30 each day, so that the bookkeepers are able to deposit the money. Class Fee
You are expected to bring the following to class everyday: A pencil or pen, calculator, and a binder with notebook paper. Materials Needed For Class
On EVERY Tuesday and Thursday we will meet in TEC Lab 1 for class instead of meeting here in Room 309. Reminder!!!!!
