  2. The digestive system breaks food down into smaller pieces that the body can use.

  3. Digestion begins in the mouth where food is taken in, chewed and swallowed.

  4. Muscles in your throat push food down into your stomach.

  5. Once food makes it to the stomach, acids continue to break it down!

  6. Food then goes to the small intestine, and liquid from the liver breaks it down EVEN MORE!!

  7. Waste from the left over food particles then go the large intestine, and exit the body through the rectum.

  11. VEGETABLES!

  12. WHOLE GRAINS!

  13. Drinking a lot of water daily and getting regular exercise are also very beneficial to your digestive system!!

  14. Regular exercise helps: • Strengthen organs of the digestive system • Moving food through the organs • Keeps you healthy!!

  15. Exercise that are good for your digestive system: • Yoga-remove stress • Breathing-relaxing techniques • & Boot Camp Workouts (cardiovascular)

  16. List the major organs used for digestion in order from start to finish. • List 5 high fiber foods that you consume(eat) in your everyday diet.
