  1. Black Saturday Bush Fires.

  2. 3:00am • In Bunyip state park,the fire has no trouble with the control line, it leaps across and continues to burn through the bush.

  3. 11:47am • On Saunders road, Kilmore east, smoke is sighted followed by fire.

  4. 12:57AM • Southbank finally get news of the fires in Wondong.

  5. 1:05pm • In Hamilton, the temperature reaches 43 degrees.

  6. 1:58PM • Kilmore east, Fire breaks through and crosses the Heathcoat junction freeway after attempts to stop it. The fire front was apparently three kilometers wide.

  7. 2:50pm • Avalon Is having its hottest day ever, • Temperature rising to 47.9 degrees.

  8. 3:00PM • Fire hits Glendonald road, Churchill.

  9. 3:38pm • Smoke column has been sighted in kangaroo ground tower. It was reported as ‘huge’, around 3,000 feet.

  10. 3:45pm • In Murrindindi they tried to water-bomb the fire, but unfortunately it was ineffective.

  11. 4:55pm • Thick smoke follows power failures in king lake, the smoke seems to be coming from Saint Andrews.

  12. 5:30pm • In king lake the sky darkens as they becomes attacked by heavy embers. 100-150 people take refuge.

  13. 6:00pm • The people of Marysville start to gather in the oval when the fire front nears.

  14. 6:50PM • Many houses and building in Marysville get destroyed in an hour as embers start to fall.

  15. 10:00PM • The fire reaches Mudgegonaas it continues through the evening.
