WHAT IS CHLAMYDIA? • Chlamydia, or chlamydial infection, is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis) which is a bacteria transmitted through sexual intercourse. The infection can creep up on a male or female without even realizing it . This happens because in many cases there are really no symptoms but, by the time the female finds out she is diagnosed with this infection, there is really not that much that can be done. If a women is trying to have a baby but is having a hard time getting pregnant, its because this infection had made her infertile. Chlamydia basically blocks the fallopian tube which is where the sperm and the egg are suppose to meet. If a female already has this infection on her vagina and is having a baby, the baby can also catch this infection and this can also lead to they baby getting pink eye. Chlamydia is also one of the world most dangerous sexual transmitted infections.

  3. WHAT ARE SYMTHOMS FOR CHLAMYDIA? • Chlamydia most of the time has no symptoms (75 percent women and 50 percent men experience none). If there are symptoms they usually are: • Women: A increase of the vaginal discharge that may have an Oder, pain when urinating, pain during sexual inner course, pain in the abdominal area, or irregular menstrual pain. • Men: A white, cloudy-watery discharge,irregular pain while urinating, or pain and swelling near the testicles.

  4. Chlamydia Our project is on Chlamydia a bacterial disease. Chlamydia is caused by a bacterial parasite called Chlamydia tachometers. The organism lays inside humans who act as the host. It is estimated that about 1 million individuals in the United States are infected with Chlamydia. Mostly 15-25 year old women's get Chlamydia in the United States

  5. Health Advisor\ Doctor Q:How can we prevent the spread of this disease? Prevent Chlamydia From Happening To You Avoid from having more than one sexual partner at one time. As chlamydia is so common, the more partners you have, the greater risk of encountering someone who has the infection. Ask any potential sexual partners about their sexually transmitted disease (STD) status. Find out whether they have been tested for STD’s and how recently do this before you have sexual intercourse with them. Use protection (condom) every time. Condoms are the best way to prevent getting Chlamydia infection. This is especially if you don’t know your partner very well. Get tested regularly. An annual physical exam that includes testing for STD;s including chlamydia. Is a smart way to monitor your health and stay on top of your things. This way if you do find out you have chlamydia, you get treatment right away. Go without sexual intercourse this is of course, the most effective way to prevent Chlamydia from happening to you. If you do have sex, use a latex condom every time

  6. Health Advisor\ Doctor Q: How can this Disease be treated? This disease can be treated with antibiotics once its detected . You can use the following medications to treat this STI : Azithromycin, Doxycycline, Tetracycline, Erythromycin, and Ciprofloxacin. This should clear the infection in 7 to 10 days. If your pregnant and infected use ErythromycinOR Amoxicillin DO NOT use B- lactams they aren't suitable drugs for the treatment of Chlamydia. They do stop the growth of the organism, BUT they don’t eliminate the bacteria.
