Aims of the A level Applied ICT Course • develop an understanding of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) • develop an understanding of the effects of the use of ICT • develop an understanding of the range of hardware and software • understand the role of ICT within the community · acquire the skills necessary to use ICT · develop skills of analysis and design, to produce solutions to problems · develop project and time management skills

  3. GCE Equivalence An AS is awarded after completion three units in year 12. An single award A level is awarded after completion of six units in year 13.. A dual award (twelve unit) A level may also be considered as equivalent to two GCE A Level awards for the purposes of admission to a wide range of degree courses.

  5. Year 12 Units • Investigate technologies used by organizations to communicate information. • Report on uses of technology to support communication • Use Word, Publisher, Powerpoint and web pages to 5 professional commercial documents • Analyse commercial documents Communicating Information

  6. Year 12 Units ICT Serving Organizations • Investigate the use of ICT in commerce and industry • Investigate a case study on a specific organization • Report on the uses of ICT in organizations including possible improvements and developments • Open exam where you take in your case study notes

  7. Year 12 Units • Investigate the use of a spreadsheet to analyse and present numeric data • Report on the sources and methods used to find information, to include: • the selection and efficient use of research engines to find information required; • an explanation of the impact of use of electronic information on individuals and society; • information of different types accessed from large websites and databases • an evaluation of the methods used to find information.   8. What Next?? Employment A level Applied ICT is designed to enable students to enter employment at trainee level within a wide range of information and communication technology contexts. Further Qualifications A level Applied ICT also fully prepares students to enter a variety of HND or degree level courses in information and communication technology or computing related subjects.
