  3. Let Me Suggest… Your MIND • WHY? Because it controls how you THINK

  4. Romans 12:2 • Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

  5. God is much more interested in changing your mind than changing your circumstances.

  6. WHY? • Thoughts control my life Proverbs 4:23 GNT Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. • Your mind is the battleground for sin Romans 7:22-23 I love to do God’s will so far as my new nature is concerned; 23-25 but there is something else deep within me, in my lower nature, that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. In my mind I want to be God’s willing servant, but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin. • Because it is the key to Peace & Happiness

  7. MANAGED MIND Tranquility Peace Confidence Strength, Serenity Unmanaged verses Managed Mind • UNMANAGED MIND • Tension • Pressure • Conflict / Chaos • Stress

  8. 3 Choices you must make on a daily basis to have a Healthy Mind What you FEED your mind? How will you FREE your mind? How will you FOCUS your mind?

  9. What will I FEED my mind? • I must feed my mind with TRUTH John 8:32 Ye shall know The truth…. Matt. 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not Live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

  10. What will I FEED my mind? • WHEN? All the time • Psalm 119:147 I rise early, before the sun is up; • I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. • Psalm 119:148 I stay awake through the night, • thinking about your promise. • Psalm 119:95 Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws.

FREEmy mind from destructive thoughts? • Your mind needs to be delivered, freed, released • You are a prisoner of your own thoughts! • 2 Cor 10:5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; • Three Enemies (Forces) in your mind • Your old nature • Satan’s desire to control your mind • World’s value system

  12. Your Old Nature • Romans 7:23 But there is another power[a] within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. • Romans 8:5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. • How do you make your mind, mind?

  13. Satan Wants to Control Your Thoughts •  2 Corinthians 2:11 … so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.

  14. The world’s value system is not helping you…. And...personally, “Don’t believe everythingyou think!”

  15. FOCUSmy mind on the right things • Think about Jesus • 2 Tim 2:8 NLT Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach. • Think about others • Phil 2:4 NLT Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. • Eternity – We have short-term thinking problems • Col. 3:2 NLT Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

  16. Temptation is a Process !James 1:14-15 • Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and draw us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. PHASE 1 DESIRE PHASE 2 DOUBT PHASE 4 DISOBEDIENCE & DECEIT PHASE 3 DECEPTION • Internal • Steel/Magnet • Every timeyou sin, youbelieve a lie • Satan replacestruth w/ Lie
