  4. Findings and Conclusions -6 targets, 3 moral levels -Premoral, 6 stages

  5. Historical Significance • Helped us to understand how we make decisions involving difficult situations

  6. Controversy and Ethics • Moral reasoning cannot be applied to moral behavior • Situational factors • Six stages are not universal (mostly Western) • Not equal to gender (Gilligan)

  7. Recent Applications • Kohlberg’s theory is used today in cases involving the law and justice system • Has helped us understand children with eyewitness testimony in cases
