  4. Anti-Virus Anti-Virus detects viruses, worms and Trojans as well as executable files or DLL libraries that could be potentially unwanted within your system. Anti-Virus also holds the internal virus database.
  5. Anti-Spyware Anti-Spyware protects your computer from all kinds of malware, e.g. spyware that secretly gathers information from your computer, or adware that generates unwanted advertisements on your computer.
  6. Anti-Spam Anti-Spam checks all incoming e-mail messages and marks unwanted e-mails as SPAM. It uses several analyzing methods offering the maximum possible protection.
  7. Firewall The Firewall defines rules that protect your computer from outside attacks, typically from the Internet, and controls (allow/forbid) all communication on every network port.
  8. Anti-Rootkit (I) A rootkit is usually a collection of malicious software that allows an attacker to gain administrator-level access to a computer or possibly a whole network.
  9. Anti-Rootkit (II) Anti-Rootkit component scans for dangerous rootkits hidden inside applications, drivers or DLL libraries. Rootkits are generally very well hidden in an operating system which makes them hard to detect or remove using regular security tools.
  10. System Tools System Tools show information about processes, network connections, automatically starting applications, Internet Explorer extensions and Layered Service Provider on your computer.
  11. LinkScanner LinkScanner works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It consists of two features, Active Surf-Shield and Search-Shield.
  12. Active Surf-Shield AVG Active Surf-Shield prevents you from accidentally becoming infected by drive-by downloads and other exploits. It ensures the web page you visit is safe at the only time that really matters - when you are about to click the link.
  13. Search-Shield AVG Search-Shield works with Google, Yahoo and MSN search engines to deliver a real-time safety verdict on all search results, including search ads, displaying an icon to show the safety rating for each site.
